A sweet Sioux Falls dog from the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society got the best birthday gift ever...a new home!

Reggie has finally found his forever new Sioux Falls home after spending approximately 96 days at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. This was an exciting moment not just for Reggie, but for the entire Sioux Falls Area Humane Society staff.

This birthday is so special for Reggie and the staff at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society. The only life Reggie has ever known is life in the shelter. For this precious boy's very first birthday, he got to share a delicious cake with his new family! Reggie's birthday wish finally came true!

This was the biggest birthday party ever at the Sioux Falls Area Humane Society! Reggie even "wrote" about this remarkable day.

They sang to me, gave me belly rubs, and showered me with kisses. But the best surprise of all? My birthday wish came true—a family chose ME to take home and love forever! I had been at the shelter for 96 days, learning, growing, and waiting patiently for this moment. Now, I'm starting a new chapter in my very own loving home.

Reggie is looking forward to many days ahead full of belly rubs, couch cuddles, and a lifetime of love with his new family. He already loves his new backyard, new toys, and anyone he meets. But more importantly, Reggie is getting so much love!

This is definitely one of many fantastic birthdays ahead for Reggie thanks to this amazing South Dakota family for adopting him! Congratulations Reggie!

From Blockbusters to Hidden Gems: 35 Movies That Take Place in South Dakota

When it comes to South Dakota and Hollywood, we've seen our fair share of films that have used our state as the backdrop for a number of productions over the years. They may not have always filmed here, but movie folk love to set stories here.

We're all familiar with the blockbusters like 1990's Dances With Wolves, 1959's North By Northwest, and more recently, 2007's National Treasure: Book of Secrets. But our state's life on the big screen goes back nearly 100 years.

According to IMDb, it all started with Courtin' Wildcats, a 1929 film which, like so many of the 29 films on this list, is a Western set in the time before South Dakota became a state in 1889.
