Local Family Asks For Help Finding South Dakota Woman in Oregon
A South Dakota family is sharing an out-of-state alert that their beloved daughter is missing in the Oregon area.
37-year-old Amber Abbott of South Dakota has been living in the Portland, Oregon area for several years. Amber's family in South Dakota has not heard from her since January.
Amber's family shared in a Facebook post that their daughter always communicates with them each week.
She has lived in the Portland area for several years but last November became homeless due to her fentanyl addiction. She continued to check in with us at least weekly. She has never gone this long without contacting us so we have filed a missing person report with Multnomah County Law Enforcement. She is 5 ft 7 in, 115 pounds.Amber usually frequents the downtown library, Rose Haven Day Shelter, or Burnside Shelter. My wife and I are so thankful for the amazing outpouring of support. I know Amber would be touched that so many people care. We are encouraged that we have three recent reports from people who believe they saw Amber, and they are all in an area that she knows well.
Amber Abbott has some tattoos that help identify her. She has a "queen chess symbol" on the inside of her right forearm, and there are also floral tattoos above each breast.
Amber's family is far away from her, and they're concerned for her safety. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Multnomah County Law Enforcement in Oregon at 503-988-4300.
This missing person's case may feel far away, but it hits close to home for a local South Dakota family.
