We alerted you about a missing Sioux Falls child named Joel Takenalive. I'm overjoyed to share that Joel is back home.

After a long day of searching, 10-year-old Joel Takenalive from Sioux Falls was found on Thursday, January 22nd.

In a press release and an alert on social media late Thursday night, officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department confirmed that Joel was safe and sound back home.

Joel Takenalive returned home and is safe. Thank you for all the calls and tips that aided us in our investigation.

According to officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department, Joel Takenalive was reported missing around 1:10 AM on Thursday. Joel is considered to be a "Missing Endangered Child" due to frigid temperatures across the Sioux Empire. Here's the latest information we know about Joel Takenalive:

The Sioux Falls Police Department worked on finding Joel throughout the day, hoping to reach him before the extremely cold temperatures. Communities across the Sioux Falls area were willing to help with the search, but officials with the Sioux Falls Police Department had to reassure the public that this case was their number one priority

We are working diligently on locating Joel. While we greatly appreciate our communities willingness to help with the search, we are planning a search with a dog that will require people stay out of the area. Unnecessary disturbance to the search area may hamper our efforts.
