Cherished Sioux Falls Wayne and Mary’s Celebrating 55 Years

The City of Sioux Falls and the state of South Dakota, in general, take pride in their local businesses. One local entity that specializes in nutrition is Wayne and Mary's Nutrition Center. Believe it or not, they have been keeping the Sioux Empire healthy for the past 55 years.

Having a local business like Wayne and Mary's Nutrition Center celebrate 55 amazing years doesn't happen often. We couldn't be excited to be part of the fun!

With two Sioux Falls locations on Kiwanis Avenue and Sycamore Avenue, owners Andrew and Rosanne Reinartz couldn't be prouder of their strong tradition at Wayne and Mary's Nutrition Center. It was Andrew's family (Wayne and Mary Puetz) who took the chance to open the first storefront in 1970 on Phillips Avenue after realizing that it wasn't easy getting healthy food and vitamins. Wayne was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis at a very young age.

Their mission at Wayne and Mary's Nutrition Center? To bring natural foods and nutritional supplements to the Sioux Empire.

With the support of medical providers and vitamin store owners who were early adopters of nutrition and supplement research, he (Wayne) found a number of diet and supplement programs that made a significant improvement to his health and symptoms.

After graduating, he found it incredibly difficult to get access in southeastern South Dakota to the food and supplements that had so improved his wellness, leading him and his wife Mary to open Wayne & Mary’s Nutrition Center in Sioux Falls in August of 1970.

Wayne and Mary's Nutrition Center loves being part of someone's health journey, and they even learn with the customers. "We get to learn something new every day whether it's about the customers and what they are needing, new products and new research that is coming out all the time.... There's been a lot of change in the field of nutrition," says Rosanne.

"We have about 3,500 different items on our shelves, with about 15,000 bottles. And beyond that, we have another 3 or 4 thousand items we special order for people." 

We recently sat down with Andrew and Rosanne Reinartz and talked about health over the last 55 years, the products they carry, and their incredible staff at Wayne and Mary's Nutrition Center.
