How Nostril Breathing Can Affect Your Mood
So, Amy saw this cool video on social media about how cotton balls can actually help calm your nervous system!
The video was by Dr. Derya Anderson, and she talked about how breathing through your right nostril makes your body go all “ready to go” mode — like your heart beats faster and your blood pressure goes up. But breathing through your left nostril is like hitting the chill button — it helps you relax, slows your heart down, and lowers your blood pressure. Crazy, right?
Dr. Anderson said this happens because your brain controls it, not because your nose is built differently. Plus, your nose actually switches which nostril is more open every few hours — that’s called the nasal cycle. If this gets messed up and you start always breathing through the same side, it can mess with how balanced your body feels. So, she thinks using a cotton ball in one nostril can help you feel better.
Amy wants the show to try this out next time someone’s feeling kinda off!
Then, the conversation turned to Eddie and his deviated septum (which means his nose isn’t perfectly straight). Bobby asked if Eddie wants to fix it, and Eddie said he might but he’s not super into surgery. Bobby’s thinking about making a show segment about it, but the others weren’t sure — they reminded him this is how the whole hair transplant talk started, and Eddie never actually did that. Haha!
