Amy’s Shopping Blunder Leads To A Hilarious Radio Moment
After nearly 46 years in radio, I’ve learned a few things. One, coffee at 5:00 AM is not optional—it’s survival. Two, if you hang around long enough, you’ll hear just about every kind of “oops” moment on-air. And thanks to The Bobby Bones Show, which you can catch weekdays 5:00 AM to 9:00 AM on Sioux Falls’ 99-1 and 100.5 Kickin’ Country, we got a new one this morning.
Amy, bless her heart, had what she called a total “bonehead” moment while online shopping. She thought she hit the jackpot during a Buy One, Get One Free sale. She loaded her cart with paper towels, snacks, and all the must-haves. In her mind, she was about to live in BOGO paradise.
The order arrives, and Amy’s son is hauling bags inside. She’s looking around saying, “There should be more out there!” But nope—that was it. No mountain of paper towels. No snack surplus. Just one of everything.
Turns out, Amy missed the fine print: you have to actually click the button to add the free item. She never did. So instead of two-for-one, it was just… one. Which, in her words, left her with “zero freebies and 100% regret.”
Now, I’ve seen listeners mess up call-in contests, I’ve even played the wrong song at the wrong time, but paying full price when you thought you were winning at shopping? That’s a whole new level.
Lesson of the day, folks: in radio, always check your mic button. In shopping, always check your BOGO button. And if you want to feel better about your own slip-ups, tune in to The Bobby Bones Show. Trust me—Amy’s not the only one keeping it interesting around here.
Weekday mornings, 5:00 to 9:00 on Kickin’ Country.
