You would think that anywhere you celebrate St. Patrick's Day would be a good place to do it. But as usual Wallet Hub goes out of its way to show us that location can be important when celebrating certain holidays. And apparently, St. Patrick's Day is one of them.

This year Americans are expected to spend around 7 billion dollars celebrating the holiday. Why not? 31.2 million Americans claim some Irish ancestry. Or as my Irish mother used to say, "Everybody's Irish on St. Patrick's Day!".

Celebrations with St. Patrick's Day parades originated here in the U.S. and not across the pond. Now parades, pub crawls, and more are all part of the celebration legacy here in the U.S.

Wallet Hub compared 200 of the biggest U.S. cities to find some of the best places to celebrate the "wearin' of the green" and maybe save you some green too. To do this, they compared these cities in a number of different categories.

Within those categories, they compared things like the share of Irish population, Irish pubs & restaurants per capita, beer prices, crime rates, walkability, weather conditions, and more.

In South Dakota, that great St Patrick's celebration place is our largest city, Sioux Falls. Countrywide, Sioux Falls came in 36th, although, due to our Friday and Saturday forecast this year, the celebrating may all be inside.
