Tater Tots Recalled in Minnesota and Iowa

If you were thinking of whipping up a huge batch of Tater Tot Casserole this weekend, you may want to check your tots.

There is a recall for 38,000 cases of Ore-Ida Tater Tots that were distributed in Arkansas, Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, North Dakota, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Washington, and Wisconsin.

The problem with the tater tots is that they may be contaminated with "clear hard plastic fragments. McCain Foods USA Inc. is voluntarily recalling the potato products and this is considered a Class II recall by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

A Class II recall, according to the FDA guidelines, is "a situation in which use of or exposure to a violative product may cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences or where the probability of serious adverse health consequences is remote."
