Sioux Falls Library Is Temporarily Closing One Of It’s Locations.
Siouxland Libraries will be closing one branch location in Sioux Falls.
The Oak View Branch at 3700 E 3rd St. in Sioux Falls will temporarily close on Monday, August 18, as the branch location undergoes comprehensive renovations.
These strategic upgrades will modernize the 20-year-old facility to significantly enhance the guest experience.
Renovation Highlights
The extensive improvement project encompasses several key areas designed to better serve our community's evolving needs:
Enhanced Access and Safety
Complete renovation of the front entrance, including sidewalk and driveway improvements to address wear from high usage and severe weather conditions.
Restroom upgrades and entrance modifications to meet current accessibility and code requirements.
Improved Functionality
Reorganized staff areas creating more efficient workspaces and improved operational flow.
Expanded quiet room and addition of four new study rooms to accommodate high patron demand.
Updated landscaping featuring low-maintenance, weather-appropriate materials.
Community Programming Expansion
A highlight of the renovation is the creation of a fenced outdoor patio space in the courtyard, made possible through a generous $140,000 donation from the Lansky family.
This innovative addition will expand programming opportunities, particularly Birth to 5-year-old programs during warmer months.
Closure Timeline and Alternatives
To ensure efficient completion, the Oak View Branch will remain closed until late December 2025. During this period, patrons are encouraged to visit other Siouxland Libraries locations throughout the system.
"The renovation of the Oak View Branch is all about enhancing the guest experience," said Director Alysia Boysen. "We appreciate everyone's patience during the temporary closure, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back to a refreshed and revitalized library that will truly enrich the lives of our guests."
