Drivers using Kiwanis Avenue in Sioux Falls will need to deal with more lane closures beginning Friday, October 9, as crews continue concrete repair work in the area.

First Closure:

will affect the southbound outside lane of North Kiwanis Avenue between Fifth Street and Sixth Street.

The lane will be closed to allow the contractor to complete concrete repairs. Weather permitting, the work is expected to take approximately one week.

Second Closure:

Farther south on Kiwanis Avenue. Northbound lanes between Third Street and Fifth Street will be closed beginning October 9 for additional concrete repairs.

Northbound traffic will not be completely shut down. Instead, traffic will be shifted toward the centerline to accommodate the lane closure and allow crews to work in the area.

City officials are reminding drivers to slow down and use extra caution when traveling through the construction zones. With lane shifts and workers present, motorists should expect possible delays, especially during busier travel times.

Drivers who regularly use Kiwanis Avenue may want to consider an alternate route while the work is underway.

Both projects are expected to be completed in about a week, weather permitting.
