A Longtime Gem is Serving The Best Cheap Sandwich In South Dakota
There's cheap food and there's good food, and very rarely do the two things intersect.
But one South Dakota restaurant is proving to be the exception to the rule.
Spanning the Nation
Recently, AOL criss-crossed America in search of 'The Most Delicious Cheap Sandwich in Every State', and their top pick for the Mount Rushmore State can be found at an establishment that's been in business for more than 60 years.
You can find this popular sandwich at the Wheel Inn in Watertown on 10th Street NW.
The Winner is...
It's the Hot Beef Combination, which the Wheel Inn's menu describes as:
'WE USE REAL POTATOES! Slow-roasted and specially seasoned roast beef thinly sliced on bread with fresh mashed potatoes, covered in homemade gravy.'
All of that will set you back just $12.50 for the full sandwich, $6.75 for a half order.
AOL's take:
'What they call the "hot beef combination" at The Wheel Inn is the same as a hot beef commercial, or just hot beef in other parts of the country. Two slices of fluffy white bread are filled with sliced roasted beef, then topped with a generous scoop of real mashed potatoes and covered in thick, luxurious beef gravy. In the cold South Dakota winters, you need meals like this.'
