Sioux Falls Traffic Advisory: Minnesota Avenue Closure Details
Some drivers in Sioux Falls need to plan for a brief disruption to their morning commute.
The South Dakota Department of Transportation has announced that, beginning at 9:30 AM on Wednesday, February 11, South Minnesota Avenue at Interstate 229 will be temporarily closed as contractors install the temporary bridge over Minnesota Avenue.
Weather permitting, the work is expected to be completed in two hours.
During the temporary closure, drivers should use Exit 2 (Western Avenue) and Exit 4 (Cliff Avenue) as detour routes.

Flaggers will be present to direct traffic on Minnesota Avenue, both Northbound and Southbound, to the I-229 Northbound and Southbound on- and off-ramps.
The work is part of a larger $48 million project, which is expected to be completed in June 2027.
